Center Stage with Jillian Diaz

 Meet Jillian Diaz!

In our tenth edition of Avant Garde Theatre of Dance's Center Stage, we present to you Miss Jillian Diaz.

Jillian is a competitive dancer in the Apprentice Program at Avant Garde Theatre of Dance. 

This fifth grader is not new to dance. She has the skill and abilities to show, she's been in it for a long time! She currently takes Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, and Acrobatics at Avant Garde. She's also one of our Demo Team members and performs at all of our public appearances!

"Jillian is definitely a leader. She is very skilled and does everything she can to make sure she gets the technique just right!" Says Miss Sarah.

Jillian loves animals; she has a cat and a dog. Apart from dancing, her other favorite hobby is roller skating!

Like her instructor, Miss Sarah, her favorite genre of dance is Ballet.

But, how much does she really like dancing? That's what we wanted to know too, so we asked... and she told us "I love dance so much, one day, I want to dance on Broadway, that's my dream."

She's been working very hard at home and in the studio, she is one of the line leaders and pushes harder and harder each day to be better.

Although, this is not Jillian's first time to compete, we still wanted to know what drives her to be in the competitive program and she immediately responded with "knowing that we will get to go to competitions and possibly win!"

Jillian has many friends at Avant Garde Theatre of Dance and has even encouraged 3 of her other friends to join as well. She takes it very serious and loves to spread her passion to others.

We wanted to know what she thought of her instructors and especially Miss Sarah. She told us "I think Miss Sarah is very cool. She's very precise because she was a professional ballerina!"

Even though Jillian is up at the studio multiple times per week and practices so much at home, we still had to ask... 

"So, Jillian, what are you going to do to better your chances at competition?"

Without a doubt, her answer was "I will train really hard and push myself to win!"
