Center Stage with Genesis Hernandez

Meet Genesis Hernandez!

We are so proud to present to you our fifth edition of Avant Garde Theatre of Dance's Center Stage!

This week, we get to know a little more about that little girl we posted month's ago on our Page. If you don't remember, maybe the photo below will ring a bell? 

Miss Genesis was the very first student that we ever posted on our Facebook page, she was the first student to sign up at Avant Garde Theatre of Dance, and she is still so very excited and happy every single day we see her for class!

Genesis is a competitive dancer in the Apprentice Program here at Avant Garde Theatre of Dance. 

This first grader is such a hard worker and she is hyper focused in every class she takes. She currently takes Intermediate Ballet 2 days per week, Intermediate Contemporary 1 day, and Intermediate Jazz 1 day per week. 

"She's small but mighty, with lots of spunk and great work ethic," says Miss Sarah.

Genesis has a dog named Thor, who is a big ole’ teddy bear weighing in at 80 pounds! When asked what her favorite class was at Avant Garde Theatre of Dance, she immediately said, "Jazz!!!!"

We had to ask Genesis, "What is it about Avant Garde that you love?" She replied with, "I love it because the teachers are very nice and make class so fun." 

We asked Genesis if she was excited to be in the competitive program, she immediately responded, "Yes I am!  It’s challenging and pushes me to be better". So, when we asked Miss Genesis what excited her the most about being in the competitive program she stated “The sassiness that I get to express on stage!"

Genesis has a cousin, Xochitl, that also attends classes at Avant Garde Theatre of Dance. 

We asked, what she truly thought about Miss Sarah and she said "Oh I like her! She is nice…. like super nice and she is so pretty.”

We have no doubt that Miss Genesis will be working very hard in the Apprentice Program.  In fact, she told us, “I will practice really really hard.  I want to win HUNDREDS of trophies for Avant Garde!”
