Center Stage with Habana Morales

 Meet Habana Morales!

The seventh edition of Avant Garde Theatre of Dance's Center Stage proudly presents Miss Habana Morales!

Habana is a fifth grader and a competitive dancer in the Apprentice Program here at Avant Garde Theatre of Dance. She trains in Ballet, Contemporary and Jazz. She spends three days per week at Avant Garde and loves it! Her family owns a Bakery right next door called "Little Habana Bakery" where you may find Habana cooking up a batch of fresh cookies... we love the name!!

You know when Habana walks in the door because she makes her presence known. "She is full of energy, loves to dance and pays close attention to detail in every class," says Miss Sarah.

Habana loves dancing, she's performed on stage since the 3rd grade and has even been the sugar plum fairy in the nut cracker! She also plays competitive soccer here in Ennis and has a horse named Junior!

We asked Habana what she loved the most and she immediate replied with "I love love ballet and contemporary! I also like jazz and Acrobatics," so, basically every class! She added, "The reason I love Avant Garde is because of Miss Sarah she is such an amazing teacher, and the programs they offer and, not to mention the dance instructors, they are so dedicated to each individual needs of their students." Well said Habana!

We know Habana is excited, but we wanted to hear it from her... She told us "Yes! I am so excited to be in such a great school for competitive dancing and performing because we get to show off how hard we work and what we have accomplished as a dance performing team!"

She goes on to say "The most that excites me is the teachers and my teammates we all do our part as a team." When asked if she had any friends here, which we knew the answer to, she said "Oh yes, I have referred many friends that have joined Avant Garde and we are in several classes together now and we are besties since Pre-Kindergarten."

We asked, what she truly thought about Miss Sarah and without skipping a beat, she said " I remember telling my mom about Miss Sarah on my first day after practice. How she took the time to visit with each and every one of us and ask us how was our day and she also teaches us in French and calls out each step and she makes sure we get it right during our class and she’s so sweet!"

This hard working dancer didn't fail to deliver when we asked her how hard she would be working as an Apprentice by proclaiming "I will give it 100 percent of my best while I’m in class so we, as a team, can strive for bringing home a trophy!! We want people to know how good our teachers are there at Avant Garde!"

Keep up the hard work Habana, you'll definitely win big with that attitude!
